Consultant Materials Scientist
Isabel James works in the field of materials science and is based in the Cardiff office.
Isabel is a Materials Scientist with B.A. (Hons) and MSci (1st class) degrees in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge. During this time, she was involved in a research project characterising a novel titanium alloy and gained practical experience in heat treatments, mechanical testing, and electron microscopy.
Following graduation, Isabel worked as a Materials Engineer in the oil and gas sector where she was involved with performing a root cause analysis of a pipeline failure, assessment of component damages and organising and overseeing mechanical testing.
Isabel joined the Materials Team at MTD in 2024. Since then, she has been involved with several projects including dissected riser inspections and coating failure assessments.
