Consultant Materials Scientist
Hanré Froneman is a Materials Scientist based in our Cardiff office.
Hanré is an experienced Metallurgist and Certified Welding Engineer with a B.Eng (Hons) from the University of Pretoria, an M.Sc from Cranfield University and an IWE Diploma . He began his career in the Middle East offshore construction industry as a Welding Engineer where he was involved in a wide variety of projects for clients in the Middle East and East Asia.
In 2009 Hanré joined an integrated energy and chemical company in South Africa as a Welding Engineer in the Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering division. During this time he worked as a fabrication expert on a number of critical process components including pressure vessels, tanks, piping, boilers and structures. He was also involved in writing and revising technical specifications and major repair procedures.
After this he worked as Welding Engineer and Metallurgist in the power generation industry, responsible for welding procedure oversight, failure investigations, maintenance and repairs on mega new build projects for super critical boilers.
Hanré joined MTD in 2023 as a Consultant Materials Scientist where his skills are used in investigations, consultancy, and litigation work for our clients.
