Our consultancy department provides unrivalled expertise to a range of industry sectors, encompassing a number of scientific and technical disciplines.
The laboratories at our head office in Cardiff offer one of the most comprehensive independent testing facilities in the UK, offering a wide range of analytical testing and inspection services across virtually all industry sectors.
We offer a range of in-house, accredited training courses aimed at enhancing the knowledge of delegates in a variety of technical disciplines. MTD’s South West School of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) specialises in the provision of training and examination services in the fields of NDT and associated technologies.
All work is carried out to forensic standards and we encourage independent audits of our performance. We hold an unusually wide range of accreditations and approvals including UKAS, CAA, NADCAP and are accredited Expert Witnesses under a number of schemes.

Our highly qualified and experienced consultancy team includes Chemists; Chemical, Marine, Electrical & NDT Engineers; Mariners; Metallurgists & Materials Scientists; Food Scientists; Microbiologists; Fire & Explosion Investigators. This multidisciplinary expertise, coupled with the wide ranging forensic testing capabilities of our independent laboratories, allows us to provide our clients with a fully independent and comprehensive investigation service across a range of industry sectors, including the marine, energy and aerospace sectors.
From offices in Cardiff, London, Houston, Singapore, Melbourne and Rotterdam, our consultancy team are able to provide a rapid response and attendance service, travelling to incidents around the world at short notice. Our consultants are experienced in performing expert witness work, with many having given evidence in court and at arbitration, both in the UK and overseas.
